Carndomhnaigh.’Ladies Football:Under 14 Carndonagh 4-07; Aodh Ruadh 3-04.Well done to the u14 girls who beat Aodh Ruadh last Thursday evening. With the wind in their favour the girls got off to a great start, after a couple of wides Niamh McDaid got the first goal. This was soon followed by another goal from Megan Gallagher and points from Niamh, Labhaoise and Cliona. Aodh Ruadh was finding it very difficult to get the ball up the field. The Carn forwards were working well together and Tara McColgan was pushing hard for a third goal when she was fouled in the square. Cliona Gibbons took the penalty, the keeper saved the shot but Cliona was quick to score on the rebound. Aodh Ruadh got their chance shortly after when they had a number of attacks on the Carn goal area and managed to score 2 goals and 2 pts without reply. This was a warning to Carn as half time approached that Aodh Ruadh would be dangerous in the second half especially with the wind at their back. The half time score was Carn 3-04 to Aodh Ruadh 2-02.The second half was as Carn had expected Aodh Ruadh scored a point straight away after the throw in and were constantly on the attack. Carn had built up a good lead in the first half so it was very important for them to defend that. The Carn defence was under pressure but they stood strong and refused to let them through, their work rate was second to none. Shauna Harkin in goals came off her line to make a number of saves and as always Kieva Callaghan, Rachel McLaughlin and Jessica Clarke made very few mistakes in getting the ball out of the danger area. Carn made a number of breaks up the field too and managed to get 3 more points and a cheeky goal from LisaMarie McLaughlin who was in the right place at the right time. Aodh Ruadh did manage a goal and 2pts but it was too little too late. The full time score was Carn 4-07 to Aodh Ruadh 3-04.The team and scorers were; Shauna Harkin, Orla Cox, Enya McDermott, Kieva Callaghan, Rachel McLaughlin, Jessica Clarke, Cliona Gibbons (1 02), Niamh McDaid (1 03), Tegan McDaid, Niamh Callaghan, Niamh Harkin, LisaMarie McLaughlin (1 00), Labhaoise Clarke (0 01), Ciara O’Connor, Tara McColgan and Megan Gallagher (1 01) Under 14 Carndonagh 3-06 to Glenfin 1-04.The girls also had to play Glenfin on Sunday as this game was due to be played three weeks ago. It wasn’t easy for the girls to field so soon after Thursday night but the full team showed up, they were in confident mood and wanted to get the game played. It was a tight first half with both teams battling for possession and finding it difficult to get scores. Glenfin opened the scoring with a long range shot that landed in the back of the net. This was just what Carn needed to get them started and despite giving away a few silly frees they were on top of the game. Niamh McDaid and Megan Gallagher were taking turns to score, Niamh started with a goal followed by Megan’s point and this was they way for the rest of the game. There was a lot of hard work being done throughout the field from Kieva Callaghan, Orla Cox and Tara Molyneaux at the back to Cliona and Labhaoise in the middle and as always Rachel McLaughlin and Jessica Clarke never stopped running looking for the ball and breaking down attacks. This result most likely puts the girls in the A semi-final, a brilliant achievement for their first year in the A section, another great team performance by the girls. The team and scorer’s were; Shauna Harkin, Orla Cox, Kieva Callaghan, Tara Molyneaux, Tegan McDaid, Rachel McLaughlin, Jessica Clarke, Cliona gibbons, Labhaoise Clarke, Enya McDermott, Niamh McDaid(1 03), Ciara o’ Connor, Niamh Callaghan(1 00), Tara McColgan and Megan Gallagher(1 03). Subs used; LisaMarie McLaughlin and Niamh Harkin.Under 15 Og Sport:The U15 Og Sport team reached the Inishowen Final that took place in Malin on Saturday afternoon last. It was unfortunate that only seven players traveled as subs are important in this competition and left manager Tony McGinn with no options. In the first game the boys lost to Muff but recovered well to beat Malin and Burt. Old rivals Malin were once again the opposition in the semi final which ended in a draw. After six minutes of extra time Carn won and played Muff in the final who were unbeaten. Carn shocked Muff in the first half and led by a point at half time. In the second half the lack of subs began to show and Muff scored vital goals to won the tournament. It was an enjoyable tournament for all the boys and many thanks to the Malin club for the hospitality on the day. The team was James Monagle, Michael Doherty, Nathan McLarkey, Conor Browne, Enda Callaghan Dermot Doherty and Cathal Doherty.Club Lotto:The winning numbers in the club mini-lotto were 22, 13, 24, 6 and 1.There was no jackpot winner. The 30 Euro prize went to Catriona Doherty, Gleneely;15 Euro each to Laura and Roisin Doherty, Moss Cottage, Carn; Nicola and Ciaran Bonner, Crossroads, Greencastle; Celine McGonagle, Redcastle and Donal McGee, Slavery, Buncrana .The jackpot next week is 15,700 Euro and the draw will be held in The Arch.
