Canal No 1 bus driver charged for dangerous driving

first_imgMinibus operator Aubrey Sealey of Canal Number One, West Bank Demerara (WBD) was on Thursday placed on $10,000 bail by Magistrate Rushell Liverpool on a dangerous driving charge. The prosecution’s case is built on the evidence of an investigating rank who claimed that Sealey was speeding at the time his minibus, BRR 6909, suffered a blowout and collided with motorcar HB 9113 on the Nismes Public Road, WBD on February 11, 2018.Sealey had initially entered a guilty plea, but after the magistrate had heard the prosecution’s contention and enquired from the 45-year-old accused if he was indeed speeding, Sealey contended otherwise and a not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf.Sealey’s contention is that he was driving at a normal rate when he suffered the blowout.Magistrate Liverpool disclosed that the prosecution has to establish that the accused had driven dangerously at the time he suffered the mechanical defect. The matter continues at the Wales Magistrate’s Court, where report and fixtures are set for June 7, 2018.last_img read more
