LYIT give advice for those still undecided about 2017 college courses

first_imgIf you are still undecided about what to do at college or university in 2017, then ‘Available Places’ through the Central Applications Office (CAO) might just be what you are looking for. ‘Available Places’ is open to students who have not applied to the CAO, in addition to being available to existing CAO applicants. ‘Available Places’ provides an opportunity to choose a course from the ‘Available Places’ list on the CAO website.Courses advertised on ‘Available Places’ can be introduced or removed at any stage by the individual college or university and this facility is updated regularly on the CAO website. Billy Bennett, Registrar at Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) said ‘Available Places’ is a fantastic facility open to both new and existing applicants to the CAO.“This facility is important as it gives new applicants to the CAO a window of opportunity to apply to any of the available courses listed on the ‘Available Places’ section of the CAO website.“This list is updated regularly by the CAO and gives the undecided student a chance to apply to an available college place. While LYIT has no Level 8, Honours Degree programmes available through ‘Available Places’, we currently have 22 Level 6/7, Higher Certificate/Ordinary Degree programmes available on this portal. We have 4 programmes available from the School of Tourism Killybegs and 18 programmes available from the Schools of Business, Engineering and Science at our Letterkenny campus.”The Leaving Certificate results will be issued on 16 August, with Round 1 CAO offers being made to applicants on Monday 21 August. Mr Bennett further added, “CAO’s ‘Available Places’ provides students with options, and allows students who have not applied to the CAO to make an application to an available college course. Not all programmes are available through ‘Available Places’; however, there is a great choice of programmes on offer, and this facility gives new applicants a chance to choose an available college place for the upcoming academic year. At LYIT, we have found that many students avail of the ‘Available Places’ portal and it is important to let parents and students know that this facility exists. The CAO website provides a short video guide on how to apply and I would encourage people to visit the website to find out more about ‘Available Places’.”For more information on programmes at LYIT visit www.lyit.ie or for more information on ‘Available Places’ visit www.cao.ie.LYIT give advice for those still undecided about 2017 college courses was last modified: July 24th, 2017 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:coursesdonegalLYITlast_img read more
