first_imgImplementing and evaluating a quality management system in occupationalhealth takes time and effort, but it can pay off in terms of future service,said Tom Gibb of Salus Occupational Health and Safety. In his presentation, ‘Quality, Audit and Evaluation within OH’, Gibb brieflydescribed the current state of quality activity in OH services in Scotland’sNHS, and looked at the pros and cons of carrying out your own qualitymanagement system. Gibb described some techniques for carrying out audits, adding that anysensible process must enable feedback. He stressed the importance of using information to ensure “you achievewhat you set out to do”, and argued the true benefits of a qualitymanagement audit is that they provide “chances for us to be better at whatwe do”.
