first_imgJack’s immense collection of bottles of various liquors greeted us to be cleaned up. Louise’s crystal cans had also moved around and when we left for home that night, I removed my pantyhose and tied them around the door with couch in front. The bottles all had been removed from the ledges to the ground. At our home we were lucky to have had minimal loss compared to friends, where cupboard doors opened and dumped into their houses. We live on the hilltop about Turnbull Canyon. Cars were crushed when buildings collapsed downtown. Thanks be to God we have survived to report the day. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong. Please try again.subscribeCongratulations! You’re all set! A big shake got me awake and sent me to the living room to see one of 10 porcelain $12,000 eagles taking flight and breaking. (Best part, my sister had it insured) I got ready for work and drove a few blocks – what a mess everywhere you turned. I arrived at the office on Floral Drive. Whew!! Guess what? The boss, Jack Aldridge, and wife, Louise, were in Hawaii. Lucy Baker, the gal in charge, arrived and opened the door and what an odor! last_img
