Argentine star confirms he will not renew his Leicester contract for the coming season

first_img1 Argentine midfielder Esteban Cambiasso has confirmed he will not be renewing his contract with Leicester this season.The 34-year-old former Inter Milan tactician moved to the King Power Stadium last summer and was hugely influential as Nigel Pearson’s side staged a miraculous recovery to avoid relegation to the Championship.But, after Pearson was sacked by the club despite their escape, Cambiasso took to Facebook to confirm he will not be extending his stay, amid reports that he could sign for West Ham instead.“I would like to announce that I have decided not to renew my contract with Leicester City,” he said.“I have taken this decision only 24 hours after receiving the proposal from Leicester because I want to give the club as much time as possible to find an alternative.“I would like to thanks all the fans who last season made me feel proud to be part of a club with an unforgettable spirit and energy.“And a very special thanks to all my team mates, staff and every people of the club, with whom I have lived one of the most important years of my career, crowned with the remaining EPL status.“Many thanks to everyone, keeping you all for ever in my heart. Leicester City Football Club.”New Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri admitted earlier this week of his plea to the midfielder to stay, but it appears those words have fallen on deaf ears.He played 29 times in all competitions last season, scoring five goals.
