first_imgGARDAI have stepped up security along the Border tonight after another attempted robbery on Main Street in Newtowncunningham today.A man armed with a knife entered Gerard McNeill’s grocery shop around 4pm, but was thwarted in his robbery attempts.He left the premises empty-handed. Gardai have set up patrols in the area in the hunt for the robber.Cllr Paul Canning said he had been assured by Gardai that patrols along the Border with counties Derry and Tyrone has been stepped up this evening.Today’s incident follows three robberies in Lifford in recent days.Donegal Daily has learned senior Gardai and senior PSNI officers are working closely in identifying the gangs behind the raids.
