The crime branch of Odisha police has arrested two persons, including a Nigerian national, from New Delhi in a fraud case. The duo had allegedly cheated a woman from Puri district of ₹41 lakh by promising her valuable gifts, the police said.A crime branch team, led by Inspector Anila Anand of Cyber police station, brought the duo here on transit remand and produced them before a Puri court on Monday, said a crime branch release. The accused are Nwabueza Chukwudi Vincet (35), a Nigerian, who was residing in Uttam Nagar area of Delhi, and Piyush Arya (22) also of Delhi.The police said the woman from Puri had befriended Oscar David on Facebook and received a gift from him after a few days. She was asked to deposit money in different accounts on several occasions for more gifts like laptop and ornaments. The woman realized that she was being duped and reported the matter to the cyber police here.Investigating the case, the Odisha police proceeded to New Delhi and during a surprise raid with the help of the Delhi police, arrested the duo. A local court had granted four-day transit remand to the Odisha police.
