Lego Celebrates 20 Years of Star Wars With Anniversary Sets

first_img It’s a little hard to believe, but Lego has been making licensed Stars Wars sets for two whole decades. To celebrate, they’re launching five special 20th anniversary sets. And as much as we’d like to give you a specific date when the sets will arrive on store shelves, Lego only says they’ll be coming “later this year.” Patience you must have, young padawan!75262 Imperial Dropship – 20th Anniversary EditionFirst up is the Imperial Dropship. It’s an updated twist on the original that was released back in 2008. The new set features the same four minifigs — a Shadow Trooper and three Stormtroopers. The Dropship itself remains a simple little build with some nice details. This one will sell for $19.99.75258 Anakin’s Podracer – 20th Anniversary EditionThe next set to get an anniversary refresh is Anakin’s Podracer. Lego more than doubled the piece count on this one and the result is very slick-looking. There’s no pit droid in the new set, but you do still get young Anakin and Padme, and Lego throws in an Anniversary Edition Luke Skywalker for good measure. Street price on the set is $29.99.75261 Clone Scout Walker – 20th Anniversary EditionAlso $29.99: the Clone Scout Walker. Like the podracer, this set has been given a major overhaul. It has more than twice as many pieces and additional minifigs. The 2005 version came with a single, lonely Stormtrooper. This time Lego is throwing in bunch of other goodies: a Dwarf Spider Droid, a Wookiee warrior, a Kashyyyk Trooper, and even a special Darth Vader.75259 Snowspeeder – 20th Anniversary EditionNext, there’s the 20th Anniversary Snowspeeder. This one’s more on the scale of the version that helped launch Lego Star Wars back in 1999 than the 1600+ piece UCS edition.  The $39.99, 309-piece set adds some nice refinements (including a handful of stick-on details) and comes with three rebels ready to take on the troopers and their dropship. A snazzy Lando Calrissian has their backs.75243 Slave I – 20th Anniversary EditionLast, but certainly not least, Lego’s giving you yet another chance to own your very own brick-built Slave I. The 20th Anniversary Edition packs just over a thousand pieces into the box and sells for $119.99. In addition to Han and Leia, this reissue comes with three classic bounty hunters: Boba Fett, 4-LOM, and Zuckuss. The Zuckuss minifig is a Lego first, and one that my son is absolutely freaking out about.More on Sets Might Be Better Investments Than GoldRuth Bader Ginsburg Is a Supreme Minifig in ‘The Lego Movie 2’Watch: Chevy’s Life-Size Lego Truck Is Built to Perfection The New Lego UCS Imperial Star Destroyer Is Nearly Four Feet LongLego Makes Building Sets Accessible to the Blind Stay on targetlast_img
